Soundproofing Homes

Soundproofing Homes and Nightclubs Is essential to reducing noise in built-up areas. However, there are situations in houses, pubs, and even nightclubs where reducing noise levels is compulsory. On the flip side, many homeowners soundproof their ceilings to prevent external noise from entering the home.

Soundproofing Homes and NightClubs

Well, firstly, it is not compulsory to SoundProof your roof. However, people or companies affected by noise pollution need to be soundproofed. Importantly, Soundproofing the roof space will substantially reduce the impact of the noise. However, if your home or building has windows and doors leaking air, it will compromise the best outcome.

Soundproofing Homes

Soundproofing homes and nightclubs is an easy solution. In most cases, a layer of either 135mm Aerolite Insulation or 135mm Knauf Insulation will do the trick. Both of these Thermal Insulation products are excellent for acoustics. They have a higher Noise Reduction Coefficient NRC 1.1 than most traditional soundproofing insulation, five times the price. In most homes, we would only install a single layer. That single layer of Insulation will reduce noise levels significantly.

Aerolite and Knauf Ecose Insulation are the only A/A 1/1 rated thermal insulation products. Additionally, they are the highest grade Thermal Insulation for roofs with the bonus of soundproofing your home.

Please do not make a mistake and install the Isotherm Insulation for this application, as it has little to no NRC. Isotherm will keep homes cooler in summer and warmer in winter, as will Aerolite and the Knauf Ecose. However, the Isotherm is not SABS-approved and is a fire risk with a B/B 1/2 FIRE RATING. For this reason, It is combustible. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, IT HAS NO SOUNDPROOFING BENEFITS.

Soundproofing Night Clubs And Pubs

As we all know, a nightclub or pub near your home or apartment can be a nightmare. In these applications, we have a different approach to soundproofing these establishments. Firstly, we would fit a layer of 60Kg3 Rockwool to reduce the heavy base sounds. After that, we will add two layers of either 135mm Aerolite or 135mm Knauf Ecose. One of the most essential factors in these applications is that there must be no gaps. The most minor cracks in the Insulation will allow noise to travel through the ceiling.

Windows

Windows contributes to noise pollution. There are several ways to handle noise through windows. Aluminium windows allow less noise to enter the house. In most cases, a heavy acoustic curtain may be sufficient to reduce the noise to an acceptable level. However, if this is not the case, we will need to look into installing a double-glazed window. Double-glazed windows are great for reducing noise pollution, but they are also great for improving indoor temperature.

Soundproof Curtains reduce the light coming into the room and substantially reduce the noise. Importantly, Soundproof curtains will make the room more acoustically friendly.

Fitting heavy-duty acoustic curtains will help reduce noise pollution substantially.

Acoustics in The Room

We need to understand that acoustics is excellent for reducing noise pollution. Acoustics reduces sound reverberation, which reduces noise to a softer, smoother sound. As a result, the room does not feel or sound noisy.
